In 1976, PNC moved to Oman to start an interior designer decorating company. Seeing an opportunity in real estate back home, he started Sobha Developers in 1995, in Bangalore, naming it after his wife. His company, Sobha Realty in the Middle East has operations spanning the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and other Gulf countries.

PNC and Sobha are both signatories of the Giving Pledge. The family’s philanthropy is focused on rural poverty and education in Southern India and works to promote self-reliance based on the Gandhian principle of Gram Swaraj.
