Kanishka Narayan is a British Labour Party politician who became the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Vale of Glamorgan in 2024, marking a historic achievement as Wales’ first ethnic minority MP. 

Before his political career, Narayan worked as a civil servant in the Cabinet Office under Prime Minister David Cameron and in the Environment Department under Liz Truss. He also gained experience in the private sector, providing financial advice to businesses. 

Narayan has been actively involved in community work, volunteering with Citizens Advice and The Trussell Trust. His election victory in 2024 was a significant moment for Welsh politics, representing a shift in the political landscape of the Vale of Glamorgan.
