This is a full-time senior manager position for an individual with experience and expertise in the philanthropy and social impact sector. This position will manage Indiaspora’s numerous philanthropy initiatives, and will contribute to the organization’s mission of elevating the level of giving by the Diaspora. This position will report to the Senior Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement. Indiaspora’s start-up culture and collaborative work environment will provide for significant growth opportunities. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all of Indiaspora’s philanthropy initiatives including our annual ChaloGive program and Philanthropy Summit  
  • Understand giving trends and habits of the Indian diaspora and identify new opportunities to grow the overall philanthropic landscape as it relates to diaspora giving
  • Lead the execution of Indiaspora’s annual ChaloGive campaign. Identify partner organizations, set-up the online campaign, and plan the social media and outreach efforts to maximize the impact of the campaign  
  • Build strategic partnerships and serve as liaison between donors, foundations, non-profit organizations, and other key stakeholders
  • Lead Indiaspora’s efforts in conducting diaspora giving surveys and related research projects 
  • Develop and manage Indiaspora’s new philanthropy initiatives, including Indiaspora’s Philanthropy Leaders List and Indiaspora Giving Circles

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7+ years of experience in the social sector with progressively increasing levels of responsibility
  • Masters degree in relevant field 
  • Experience working on philanthropy initiatives and projects with an emphasis on cross-sector collaboration between donors, non-profit organizations, foundations, and intermediaries
  • Working knowledge of new philanthropy structures, including but not limited to venture grants, development impact bonds, and Donor Advised Funds
  • Experience with the Indian diaspora community and related organizations 
  • Good understanding of the philanthropy landscape in India
  • Strong alignment with Indiaspora’s mission of doubling diaspora giving 
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills
  • Very strong attention to detail and ability to simultaneously understand the larger picture
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Self-starter attitude

Preferred:

  • Past work experience with an organization focused on the Indian social sector 
  • Experience planning and executing events strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Experience in managing online database of contacts 
  • Newsletter writing experience
