Shekar Narasimhan is the Managing Partner at Beekman Advisors, providing strategic advisory services to companies and investors involved in real estate, mortgage finance, affordable housing and related sectors. He is also Chairman and Founder of the AAPI Victory Fund which aims to mobilize the Asian American Pacific Islander community in battleground States. He also serves as Chairman of Papillon Capital, focusing on sustainable infrastructure investing, and is a Principal in the Remergent Funds, an Opportunity Zone Fund, focusing on small towns and cities in the Southeast U.S. He is currently the Chairman of the Virginia Housing Development Authority after being appointed as a Commissioner by the Governor in 2018 and is also serving as a Board Member for the Democracy Alliance. Shekar is a Senior Industry Fellow at the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard. Previously, he served as a Commissioner on President Obama’s Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and was in leadership roles in the Obama and Hillary Clinton campaigns, and as Co-Chair of the Democratic National Committee’s Indo-American Leadership Council. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi, India and an MBA from the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has earned the designation of Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB).
