Lata Krishnan is an experienced Board Director skilled in advising companies and founders in building
and scaling enterprises. She was a Board member of Silicon Valley Bank Financial Group(Nasdaq: SIVB)
for ten years from 2008 to 2018. Here she served on both the Audit and Finance committees for ten
years. As part of the Audit Committee, she provided oversight on regulatory matters, expansion plans,
risk assessments and as part of the Finance committee, she provided guidance on liquidity and planning,
credit matters, expansion of product offerings and business combinations. In her ten year history with
the Bank, she had extensive exposure to the technology sector, venture industry, and private equity
markets. Additionally, during this time, the Bank expanded into India, UK, and China and this
strengthened her global expertise.
Lata was the Chief Financial Officer of Smart Global Holdings (Nasdaq: SGH) from the company’s
founding in 1989 and led it through its initial public offering in 1995.
Lata has built a robust network of corporate relationships in India and the US through her work with SVB
and her non -profit board roles.
Today she is a member of public and private Boards, most notably on the Stanford Healthcare Board,
the governing body for Stanford Hospital and the School of Medicine. As a very active philanthropist,
Lata is the Founder, former President, and current Co-Chair of the American India Foundation, Board
member of The Commonwealth Club of San Francisco, Board Member of the Asian Art Museum and
Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. Lata is also a Senior Advisory Board Member of the London
School of Economics, South Asia Centre.
As a private investor in the family office she helped start (Shah Capital Partners), she takes an active role
in identifying and investing in high-growth opportunities and inspiring founders from the technology,
energy, real estate, and social impact worlds.
The early part of her career was spent at Arthur Andersen, in the UK and Montgomery Securities, in San
Francisco where she developed her finance skills.
