Deputy Director of the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA), Supreet Anand works to supervise the National Professional Development grants, Native American and Alaska Native Children in School Program, and the Asian American Pacific Islander Data Disaggregation Initiative program. She focuses on informing policy decisions regardign English learners and supervises the OELA’s role in disseminating information and educational research, practices, and policies for English learners. Supreet has previously lead a state support group as a supervisory group leader at the Office of State Support within the same department. She also served as the Title III specialist for the Maryland State Department of Education, and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages methodology courses to graduate students. She was also the supervisor of the ESOL program at Prince George’s County Public Schools, and taught ESOL in grades K-12 for over 10 years in India and the US. Supreet holds an M.S. in Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University, and an M.A, in English Literature from Punjab University, in India.
