Parveen Kumar Bala is a Fijian politician and former Cabinet Minister, known for his leadership and long-standing career in local and national politics. He served as Mayor of Ba from 1997 to 2009, becoming the youngest person to hold the position. Following the 2006 Fijian coup d’état, Bala was appointed Special Administrator of Lautoka and later became the president of the Fiji Local Government Association.
He was first elected to Parliament in 2014 under the FijiFirst Party and served in several ministerial roles, including Minister for Local Government, Infrastructure, and Employment. Re-elected in 2022, Bala transitioned to the opposition after FijiFirst lost its parliamentary majority.
