Parmjeet Parmar is a New Zealand politician, who immigrated to New Zealand in 1995. Parmar first entered politics with the New Zealand National Party, making history in the 2014 general election as the first Indian-born woman elected to Parliament.
She served as a list MP until 2020, focusing on science and economic issues. In 2023, Parmar switched to the ACT Party, emphasizing her alignment with its values on science and business innovation.
She was elected to Parliament on the ACT party list and serves as their education spokesperson. Outside politics, Parmar has been actively involved in community service, including roles as Chair of an NGO for domestic violence victims.
