Neera Tanden is an American political consultant and government official. She is the president of the Center for American Progress, a liberal advocacy organization where she has worked in different capacities since its founding in 2003, and most recently became its president and CEO.
She previously served as senior adviser for health reform at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In that role, she developed policies around reform and worked with Congress and stakeholders on particular provisions of President Barack Obama’s signature legislative achievement—the Affordable Care Act.
