Naresh Solanki has been a resident of Cerritos, California since 1988 and has been deeply involved in the community. He served on the Cerritos Planning Commission from 2007 to 2015 before being elected to the City Council in 2015 and re-elected in 2020. 

Solanki has held the position of Mayor multiple times, including in 2019, 2020, and 2024. As the first Indian American Mayor of Cerritos, he has prioritized public safety, fiscal responsibility, and economic development, emphasizing support for local businesses and community resources such as the Cerritos Public Library and Performing Arts Center​​.
