Jainey Bavishi is a distinguished expert in climate resilience and disaster risk reduction. She currently serves as the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere and Deputy Administrator at NOAA. Previously, she led the New York City Mayor’s Office of Climate Resiliency, implementing strategies to prepare the city for climate impacts.
During the Obama administration, Bavishi was the Associate Director for Climate Preparedness at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Her earlier roles include Executive Director of R3ADY Asia-Pacific and Director of the Equity and Inclusion Campaign in the Gulf Coast, focusing on disaster recovery.
