Harry Bains is a Canadian politician of Indian lineage serving as the Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Surrey-Newton since 2005. A member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP), he has been the Minister of Labour since 2017. 

Bains has a robust background in community service and labor rights advocacy, having spent over 15 years as an elected officer of the Steelworkers-IWA Canada Local 2171, where he led negotiations to improve working conditions. 

He has also been actively involved in the Surrey community, serving on the Kwantlen University College Board of Governors from 1993 to 1999 and volunteering with organizations like Habitat for Humanity​​​​​​​​​​. Indiaspora is proud to have Harry Bains in our Global  Government List.
