Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo is a prominent Mauritian politician and a member of the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM). As of 2024, she has served in various ministerial roles, including being the first woman to hold the position of Vice Prime Minister of Mauritius.
Elected to the National Assembly in 2005, she has represented Constituency No. 19, and after a brief gap, was re-elected in 2014. Over the years, she has held key portfolios, such as Minister of Social Security, National Solidarity, and Reform Institutions, and Minister of Gender Equality, Child Development and Family Welfare. Following the 2019 general election, she was appointed Minister of Social Integration, Social Security, and National Solidarity.
