Faris Al-rawi

Minister for Rural Development and Local Government, Trinidad & Tobago

Faris Al-Rawi is a prominent Trinidadian and Tobagonian politician and attorney. He served as Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago from 2015 to 2022, playing a key role in legal reforms and governance during his tenure. Al-Rawi is the Member of Parliament for San Fernando West, having secured his seat in the 2015 general elections.

Born in San Fernando to a diverse family of Iraqi, Indian, and Presbyterian heritage, Al-Rawi embodies a multicultural background. He earned his law degree from the University of the West Indies and holds a master’s in law from King’s College London. His career includes roles as an Opposition Senator, legal advisor, and Alderman.
