The recent launch of the Indiaspora Impact Report in New Delhi celebrated the extraordinary contributions of Indian-Americans to the U.S. economy, culture, and public service, as well as their influence on the Indo-US corridor. The event featured prominent speakers, including India’s External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, who underscored the evolving role of the Indian diaspora, comparing the significant influence of Indian-Americans in the U.S. today to that during earlier eras.
Eric Garcetti, the Ambassador of the US to India, also spoke about the prominence of Indian Americans and said that to know this community was to know America itself. The report, developed in collaboration with Boston Consulting Group (BCG), reveals that Indian-Americans, though only 1.5% of the U.S. population, lead major corporations, contribute billions to the economy, and have an outsized impact on American society.
Several other distinguished speakers from prominent organizations like the US-India Business Council, and the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, among others, graced the occasion. The event not only highlighted the achievements of the Indian American community but also reflected on the deepening India-U.S. relationship, with discussions on how the Indian diaspora serves as a bridge between the two nations. The report’s findings were lauded for showcasing the small community’s vast contributions across sectors like business, science, academia, and culture. The event was well-covered in the media, emphasizing the pride and responsibility carried by the Indian diaspora as they continue to shape the future of both India and the U.S.
