Trestle Labs

Akshita is a social innovator and entrepreneur working in the domain of assistive and healthcare innovations for the last six years. During the third year of her engineering in Computer Science, she worked on a college project, a reading and mobility glove for the blind. When her team went to an NGO in Delhi, to test the prototype, a child, after testing the device, felt happy enough to call his dad and tell him that he could now read and travel on his own; and turned back asking – “Sister, when can I get this?”.

His question acted as a pivotal point in her life that motivated her to start Trestle Labs in 2017. Over the course of building Trestle Labs, her role has extended from product development and UX to team building, business development, sales and fundraising.

Trestle Labs is an assistive technology company, empowering the blind and visually impaired community towards inclusive education and employment by building solutions that help them listen, translate, and digitize printed, handwritten, and digital content in real-time across 60+ global languages. Trestle, which symbolizes support, comes together with the inventive nature of a laboratory environment to lay the cornerstone for Trestle Labs, where they enable people and communities to unlock their aspirations by building assistive technology solutions. Trestle Labs aims to make world’s resources inclusive and empower everyone to achieve their individual and collective aspirations. They strive to develop products which excite, motivate and engage users to go beyond their perceived limits.
