Born in New Delhi, raised in Kuwait, and a Singaporean citizen based in Finland, Rajeev has a global world view that has contributed to his vision and transformation of Nokia since becoming CEO in 2014. His tenure has included the creation of Nokia’s own telecom software-driven network business, its successful expansion into enterprise vertical markets, and the full-circle return of the Nokia brand to mobile phones since it sold its phone division to Microsoft in 2013. Rajeev has been with Nokia for 25 years, prior to which he held management positions at various companies based in India and Nigeria. Rajeev earned his bachelor’s degree from the Manipal Institute of Technology in India.

Rajeev’s vast experience has earned him the position as a commissioner of the United Nations Broadband Commission and a member of the stewardship board of the Health and Healthcare System Initiative at the World Economic Forum. Rajeev has been vocal about climate change and Nokia’s commitment as a player in solving the climate challenge. In 2019, the company participated in the UN climate summit and delivered zero-emissions products to 150 countries the same year.
