A Massachusetts native, Niraj co-founded Wayfair in 2002 with his Cornell classmate, Steve Conine, and has been CEO since its inception. Prior to the founding of Wayfair, Niraj had co-founded and served as the CEO of Simplify Mobile, which he sold in 2001. Niraj received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Cornell University.
In addition to his role at Wayfair, Niraj also serves on the board of the Massachusetts Competitive Partnership, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. Wayfair has responded to the COVID-19 crisis in several ways including supplying hospitals in the Boston area with additional furniture and equipment and donating $250,000 to various charities.
Fun Fact: Niraj Shah and his wife Jill Shah started the Shah Family Foundation, which supports innovative and transformative work in education, healthcare and the greater Boston community.
