Shefali Mehta is an agricultural and environmental economist who focuses on improving agricultural systems to sustainably feed the world. She is currently the Executive Director of the Soil Health Partnership, a cross-sector effort to increase the adoption of healthy ag practices. She is also the CEO for Ceres Wave, an agricultural and food technology company that can sustainably increase crop yields across the world by using plasma. She founded and runs Open Rivers Consulting Associates where she supports clients in tackling some of their toughest problems by finding economic- and science-based solutions. Throughout her career, Dr. Mehta has focused on collaborating across disciplines, industries and sectors to identify innovative and pragmatic solutions to complex issues.
She received her PhD in Agricultural and Applied Economics and MS in Statistics from the University of Minnesota, MPhil in Economics from Cambridge University and a BA in Economics from New York University. Shefali serves on the Boards of Pheasants Forever, the Minnesota Invasive Terrestrial Pests and Plant Center, the School of Statistics at the University of Minnesota, and Compatible Technology International.
